Stephanie Owen

Strategy2Life’s consulting principal is Stephanie Owen. An admirer of people with conviction who try to make a difference through their work, Stephanie is passionate about helping leaders drive change and bring strategies to life.

Stephanie has over 20 years’ track record in leading and enabling change in more than 20 organisations in several industries, across multiple functions and subject areas. Her clients include the four major Australian banks, and other top Australian and global organisations such as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, PeopleSoft, Brambles, Serco, and Sinclair Knight Merz (now Jacobs). Public sector, health and nonprofit clients include the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, RailCorp, NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, and NSW Ambulance where she served as Interim Chief Information and Technology Officer to help drive major change. Stephanie has also worked in and advised startups and new ventures in fintech, professional services, scientific/clinical devices, and medical research.

Stephanie is a management consultant who seamlessly integrates strategy, program/project management, change management, risk management and consulting problem-solving expertise in transformation programs and new ventures. Core capabilities she brings to all assignments include strategic and systems thinking, creating structure and clarity out of ambiguity, and connecting and aligning people to achieve a common goal. Her approach is collaborative, design-oriented, with a focus on capability building.

Stephanie’s consulting career began in 1994 at Deloitte, after several years in IBM in IT and account management roles. Since then, she has worked closely with consultants from most major consulting firms, as well as gained a whole new perspective, as an internal consultant at AMP. She worked as adjunct faculty at MGSM, one of the top three Australian business schools, for several years as the lecturer in charge of the Management Consulting subject. Stephanie established Strategy2Life in 2003, when she decided to go out on her own in order to do the work she loves without being constrained by the economic models of large firms. Aware of both the benefits and constraints of sole practitioner consulting, Stephanie partners with high calibre individuals and respected boutique consultancies to deliver outstanding solutions for clients, without adding unnecessary overhead.

Stephanie has a Bachelor of Economics with double majors in Economics and Computer Science from Sydney University. She has an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM), where she graduated with the top grade point average and was awarded the prestigious Allen Knott Scholar medal. She has been an invited expert speaker at the NSW CPA Congress, NSW Public Sector CFO Forum, and industry conferences. In addition to extensive in-house training undertaken at IBM and Deloitte, Stephanie is an internationally certified Program Manager, as an MSP Advanced Practitioner. She has been trained in the patented MG Taylor collaborative design thinking workshop method (as licenced by PwC’s “the difference” and CapGemini’s “accelerated solutions environment”).

In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys playing the harmonica with a gospel music group. She is also actively involved with local junior Australian Rules football (AFL) teams. Stephanie and Strategy2Life “give back” to the community through supporting non-profit organisations including Vinnies, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, GROW, StreetWork, Caritas, and World Vision. She is also a mentor for the Change Management Institute to help other professionals change the world for the better.
